Morning coffee and Shutterbug Magazine

A few weeks ago, I was reading an issue of Shutterbug Magazine and saw that one of their "Picture This - Reader's Assignment" categories was "Wedding, Portrait and Boudoir Photography." I logged into the website and submitted a few of my photos that fit the three categories, but I was most excited to submit my portrait of Massimo Bottura. It's one of my favorite photos of the past year, one that I have on my wall at home and one that has been published a couple of times before.

As I sat on my couch this morning drinking my daily Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee, I opened up my March 2016 issue of Shutterbug, having completely forgotten that I had even submitted any photos to the magazine. As I flipped through the first few pages, I passed the table of contents and the ads, and finally hit page 20 and there staring at me was Massimo, peering at me over his two loaves of bread. At first it didn't even really hit me, I just said to myself "oh that's my photo" since I have seen it so many times at this point. Then I did a double take... "wait, that's my photo, it's in Shutterbug Magazine... why is it in Shutterbug??? Holy Shit it's in Shutterbug Magazine!!!"

Pretty cool to see my work chosen by the editors of a photography magazine as one of the seven reader photos to be displayed in print, and to be given a half page spot nonetheless! Great way to start my day.
